This extreme sport, Volcano Boarding (Sand boarding), born in Nicaragua, is being offered at Cerro Negro volcano. Climbing the Cerro Negro is not like any other volcano in Nicaragua. The volcano is only about 500 meters high (675 meters above sea level). One of the volcano’s slopes is too steep to climb – but consequently great for a fast descent! Instead of large rocks this side only has volcanic sand, providing a great surface for running downhill. To enjoy this thrilling experience sandboarders can use a wooden board to go downhill, much like snowboarding down a mountain but now on a volcanic slope! Accompanied by a Guide / Instructor you will climb Cerro Negro. Upon arrival at the top you will receive a short exploratory tour of this young but impressive volcano. Standing on top of this volcano, you will have an immense view over a great part of the volcanic chain Los Maribios. After a short technical training you will make a short test run inside the crater of Cerro Negro. After an optional photo shoot, technical evaluation and possible additional training, you will make your way to the outer rim of the crater. After some final explanations you will Volcano Board all the way down to the base of Cerro Negro, after which you will be transferred back to Managua. Lunch is inlcuded
