Awaken to a fresh breeze of the island winds or enjoy some of the most beautiful sunsets, late in the afternoon before dusk, and join us in this kayaking trip to discover where birds live, nest and visit our lake. The tour starts by exploring the islands nearby and then heads to the peninsula to continue the search. You might find interesting birds like Montezuma’s Oropendula, Ringed Kingfisher, Purple Gallinule, and Northern Jacana amongst many others. Our guide will help you to identify all the birds observed in the tour. Don’t forget to bring the bird flash card from your casita and your binoculars; if you don’t have your own ask for them at the reception.
Granada City Tour From

Join us in exploring and discovering the famous city of Granada, established in 1524 by the Spaniard Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba, the oldest colonial city on mainland America and considered one of the prettiest cities in Latin America. You will tour the city by horse-drawn carriage , like colonial times!
You will visit relevant sites and colonial buildings as well as the San Francisco Convent and Church founded in 1524, which preserves some of the most interesting indigenous ceramic and statue collections. You will hear stories from real pirates, like the infamous Henry Morgan, and their adventures to civil war stories that burned to ashes, sacked and destroyed the city several times. We will also visit archaeological treasures from Isla Zapatera, a primitive art exhibit and historical display, La Polvora Fort, a warehouse built in 1748 to keep gunpowder. We will visit its old towers, which give you a beautiful view of the city. Xalteva Church and walls: Here the Spaniards met the Indigenous Xalteva population, from which it gets its name. This is the most antique part of Granada. The church was built during colonial times and because of its location, it was also used as a military fort. Lunch included at Zaguan Restaurant.

Experienced guide will help you learn about the natural history of the islands, their importance and the theory of how they were formed according to scientific and ancient knowledge. At some point we will pass by a narrow canal in be-tween islands where water lilies are abundant. These floating plants are part of a special ecosystem that provides food and nesting for different birds. Therefore, you will be able to observe different kinds of shore birds (we recommend you bring binoculars). Keep your eyes open; lake turtles can sometimes be seen at island shores!
Hike in the Mombacho Natural Reserve cloud forest, a paradise for nature lovers. At the Top of Mombacho Volcano Natural Reserve lie two dormant craters. Walk the trails of this enchanting tropical cloud forest , where you will see incredible views of Granada, Cocibolca lake, the Asese peninsula with its 365 small islands, rare orchids and flowers, exotic wildlife, like the salamander, the white-face and howler monkeys.
