Day 01: Arrival: Welcome to paradise

Upon arrival to Managua, a representative of Nicaraguan Trails will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to Rivas, at Guacalito de la Isla where  Mukul Resort is located.
 

On route you will stop to visit one of the active volcanoes of Nicaragua, the Masaya Volcano with its craters. You will continue to the  Masaya’s Art market where you will observe arts and crafts from all around the country.
 

Finally before heading to Rivas, we will make a last stop at the Monimbó historic Neighbourhood, an old indigenous center with a community that still preserves several ancestral traditions, is situated South of the central park. Monimbó has its own authorities, such as the 'Alcalde de Vara' (mayor) and a 'Consejo de Ancianos' (Council of Elders). This neighbourhood is part of the historical urban center and features a lot of art workshops which you will have time to explore.

Day 02: Mukul: At Leisure

Today you have the day at leisure. You can enjoy Nicaragua’s stunning Emerald Coast that you simply can’t find anywhere else, or you can go biking through the forest, golfing along the fringes of the jungle and seashore, luxuriating in the Mukul Spa (not included)

Day 03: Stand Up Paddleboard Excursion

The emerging sport from Hawaiian heritage is an ancient form of surfing that has remerged as a way for surfers to paddle longer distances. What better way to enjoy a core and balanced workout whilst enjoying the stunning local scenery. Together we will paddle to our secluded virgin oasis, Guacalito Beach. Equipment and basic instruction provided. No prior experience is necessary and boat support is included.

Day 04: Transfer To Granada Islets

After a tasty breakfast, you will have a transfer to Granada’s Marina Cocibolca where you will take a boat to reach the private islet, where Jicaro lodge is located.

Day 05: Granada City Tour

Join us exploring and discovering the famous city of Granada, established in 1524 by the Spaniard Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba, the oldest colonial city on mainland America and considered one of the prettiest cities in Latin America. What can be more romantic that do it by carriage like colonial times, visit relevant sites and colonial buildings as well as the San Francisco Convent and Church founded in 1524, which preserves some of the most interesting indigenous ceramic and statue collections. You will hear stories from real pirates, like the infamous Henry Morgan, and their adventures to civil war stories that burned to ashes, sacked and destroyed the city several times. We will also visit archaeological treasures from Isla Zapatera, a primitive art exhibit and historical display, La Polvora Fort, a warehouse built in 1748 to keep gunpowder. We will visit its old towers, which give you a beautiful view of the city. Xalteva Church and walls: Here the Spaniards met the Indigenous Xalteva population, from which it gets its name. This is the most antique part of Granada. The church was built during colonial times and because of its location, it was also used as a military fort.

Day 07: Transfer To Managua /Mombacho Volcano & Canopy Tour

Today you will have a private transfer back to Managua. On route you will visit the Mombacho Volcano.
 

This morning you will take part of an adventure like no other taking part of the Mombacho Volcano canopy tour. The Mombacho Volcano is one of the most prominent volcanoes in Nicaragua, located only 10 km from Granada. The ride uphill only is an adventure by itself. The incredible steepness of the volcano guarantees a spectacular ride. Explore a breathtaking view of the tropical forest of the Mombacho Volcano and enjoy an exhilarating Canopy Zip Line Tour while enjoying close contact with nature. This tour is a combination of both Mombacho walking around the crater and Canopy with its 17 platforms - 3 Hanging Bridges - 11 Steel Cables with a height about 25 – 30 meters. Continue to Managua.

Day 08: Leon And Flor De Caña Tour

Take part of a guided visit where you will learn the history of how sugar cane came to the America’s, the origin and development of rum worldwide. Witness the fascinating process used to process the rum, learn about the maintenance of the oak barrels, see first-hand the impressive warehouses with hundreds of the oak barrels with 25 year old rum. Enjoy a tasting session of an 18 year old rum, walk through the Flor de Cana Rum museum that shows evidence of the Pellas family business since 1890. After 45 minutes’ drive, you’ll arrive in the colonial city of Leon. The original city of Leon was established by Spanish conqueror Francisco Hernández de Córdoba in 1523 at the foot of the Momotombo volcano.. One of the most popular attractions is the 18th century cathedral that is the largest in Central America. Also of interest are the La Merced and the Xalteva churches, the Old Spanish Ammunition Fortress, the San Francisco Convent and the beautifully carved Casa de los Leones. Lunch is included at Victoriano Restaurant.

Day 09: Departure

After breakfast you will be transferred to the International Airport for your flight back home.
